Abstract (EN)

This study discusses whether the European Union has taken sufficient action against the One Belt One Road Initiative, also described as China's modern silk road project, and whether the Initiative creates a threat perception on the European Union within the framework of the important concept of economic security. In the first part of the study, the EU's political economy is evaluated in the context of the notion of economic security and neoliberal theory. Part two and three comprise study's main objectives. The second part clarifies the economic relations of the EU and China and focuses on the Belt-Road Initiative. The third part aims to reveal the threat perception process of the European Union against the Belt-Road Initiative. In this part, along with discussing EU as a block, the member nations of the European Union are examined by dividing them into different groups in order to provide a broader, detailed perspective. In the conclusion part of the study, a comprehensive and integrated discussion is made within the framework of all the findings and comments, and the answer to the question "Are the measures taken by the EU against the Belt-Road Initiative sufficient?" is searched for. Thus, it has been clarified that whether the economic security policies produced by the European Union member nations for the union and national interests are sufficient to meet the possible effects that may arise in the event of the completion of the One Belt One Road Initiative.
