Cold war as the main reason for european integration

Abstract (EN)

Today, the European Union is an economically powerful supranational organization with 27 members. The main purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the Cold War period on European integration. In this context, first of all, the reasons that led to the Cold War and the Cold War period were examined. Then, with the threat created by the Cold War period, the history of the integration movements made by Western European states in order to ensure economic and political order was briefly included. The policies of the USA, which constitutes the western wing in the bipolar system created by the Cold War, towards European integration were tried to be explained. Finally, the impact of the cold war on European common policies is given.
