The principle of legitimate expectations which is closely connected to legal certainty as a general principal of law is be found in many legal systems although their precise legal content may vary from one system to another. Both of those principles has been taken up by the European Court of Justice of the European Communites and adapted to Community requirements. Yet the principles are merely general maxims derived from the notion that Community Law.
