Abstract (EN)

policies of Serbia, supported by Russia, in line with the ideal of establishing the "Great Serbia" were hampered by the counter-moves of Austria-Hungary. The increasingly tense relations between the two states have led to the rise of Serbian nationalism. Serbs are organized by establishing societies to realize their ideals. Austria-Hungary, which was extremely nervous about Serbia's earnings at the end of the Balkan Wars, organized military maneuvers in Bosnia at the end of June 1914 to intimidate its enemies. Archduke Fransuva Ferdinand, along with his wife Sophie Chotek, went to the area in order to maneuver with the title of "Commander-in-Chief of the Austrian Army". The couple lost their lives as a result of an assassination during the visit to Sarajevo on 28 June 1914 after the maneuvers. This assassination by the Black Hand Organization, which was founded in Serbia and made up of Serbian nationalists, was called "Sarajevo Assassination". Austria-Hungary perceived the assassination as an attack on the state in the person of the heir of the throne. By giving an ultimatum to Serbia, which it considers responsible for the assassination, requested the assurance that the matters contained therein will be fulfilled unconditionally. Austria-Hungary, who could not get the answer it expected within the given time, 28th July 1914, declared war on Serbia. This war triggered World War I by spreading to the general public within a week with the positions taken by the great states. In the Ottoman press, this assassination was widely taken place, and developments were carefully followed and predictions were made. In this thesis, the reflection of this whole process to the Ottoman press was tried to be handled with a broad perspective. Key Words: Sarajevo Assassination, Franc Ferdinand, Austria-Hungary, Serbia, Ottoman Press.
