Abstract (EN)
The imperial succession was passed from father to son in both the Ottoman Empire and the Austrian State for centuries. However, the inheritance system started to change in the Austrian State in the middle of the eighteenth century. This changed system dragged the Austrian State into a war of succession that would last eight years between 1740 and 1748. Wars of succession caused great economic and military damage to the states in the Central European region, and the Ottoman Empire was also economically affected by this war period. This period between the Ottoman and Austrian States, which went through a crisis in both domestic and foreign politics, passed in the form of peace. In this thesis, with the help of German, English and Turkish sources, the Ottoman-Austrian relations during the succession wars that emerged in Austria between 1740-1748, the general situation in Austria before the succession wars and the information have been given about the people who influenced the Ottoman-Austrian relations in this process. This study is composed of three chapters, excluding the introduction and conclusion. The questions that arose during the research of the thesis were tried to be answered in the thesis. There are many studies on Ottoman-Austrian relations in Turkish and German and English literature. For this reason, the relations between Austria and the Ottoman Empire during the War of the Austrian Succession were tried to be reflected in a comparative way. These examined sources were analyzed with a holistic approach. As a result of the findings analyzed comparatively in the study, our aim was to try to bring both Western and Eastern perspectives to the literature.
