Abstract (EN)

Cotton and corn farming are practiced as the forms of irrigated farming in the 250 km2 area of Söke Plain that is 450 km2 in total in the province of Aydın. This study was performed in order to examine the ground water pollution caused by the over fertilization in agricultural practices.The pilot regions where the sampling was to be performed were determined and water and soil samples were taken (0 to 30 cm) in June and in August, the first and the last months of intensive irrigation. Soil samples were applied physical and chemical analyses. These water samples were analyzed in terms of pH, EC, molten solids, residue on evaporation, anion, cation, microelements, (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and B) and heavy metals (Co, Cr, Ni, Cd, Pb).In the pH mild alkali and alkali reactions, the EC values were too high, chlorine ingredients were below the boundary value and the corbonate and bicarbonate ingredients were determined to be the third class of water quality criteria values. The sulfate and nitrate values were also high. In terms of cation ingredients in the irrigation water, SAR, ESP and SSP values showed the characteristics of second and third class water groups. All microelement including boron - ingredients of the water were below the boundary values. When the heavy metal ingredients of the water from the wells were analyzed; Co, Ni, Cr, Cd concentrations except for Pb were over the boundary values determined for irrigation water that can cause pollution.
