Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the distinctive role of adult individuals' coping styles in the relationship between separation-individuation and sexual self-schema. In addition, within the scope of the study, the relationships between the main variables of separation-individuation, sexual self-schema and styles of coping with stress and their sub-dimensions were examined in accordance with the relational screening design. The study group of the research consists of 246 female and 157 male adult individuals living in various provinces, especially in Istanbul. In this study, data were obtained with Demographic Information Form, Separation Individuation Scale, Sexual Self-Schema Scale, and Coping with Stress Scale. Independent Sample t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and correlation analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings: Separation-individuation scores were found to be negatively related to the loving/compassionate sexual self-schema and problem-focused coping styles in coping with stress. On the other hand, it was observed that there was a positive and significant relationship between problem-focused coping styles and loving/compassionate sexual self-schema in coping with stress. As a result of the regression analysis, it was determined that the styles of coping with stress played a partial mediating role in the relationship between separation individuation and sexual self-schema. The results obtained in this study were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature and suggestions were given for future studies.
