Establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic

We see the rich history of statehood of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. In my study, I explained that Azerbaijani intellectuals, who showed some struggles especially after the 1917 February and 1917 October Coups, ultimately declared the Independence of Azerbaijan on 28 May 1918, and that the Ottoman Empire sent the Caucasian Islamic Army to help Azerbaijan on 4 June 1918, thanks to the Batum Treaty. Finally, I included the introduction of Azerbaijan at the De facto Jure level by the Azerbaijani Representatives at the Paris Conference on January 11, 1920. My study consists of three parts: the overthrow of Tsarist Russia, the proclamation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the overthrow of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. First of all, I gave extensive information about the emergence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was recognized as the first parliamentary republic of the Muslim East, the Turks' unhesitating assistance to the brotherly country of Azerbaijan, Nuru Pasha's liberation of Baku from enemy occupation and the Aras-Turkic Republic's liberation of Nakhchivan from Armenian attack. On May 28, 1918, the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan in North Azerbaijan, the first modern parliamentary nation-state of the Turkic and Islamic world, constitutes an important turning point in the history of Azerbaijan. Although it lasted less than two years, the foundations of the parliamentary nation-state tradition were laid in Azerbaijan, and the borders, form of government, name, language and flag of the state were determined. With the national policies implemented during this period, the national culture and national identity of the Azerbaijani people were strengthened and at the same time tried to be reshaped in line with the needs of the new state and the era.
