The impact of Azerbaijan-Israel relations on Azerbaijan–Iran relations

This study analyzes the development of Azerbaijan-Israel relations and its impact on its relations with Iran from a neorealist perspective. This study emphasizes that Azerbaijan's close relations with Israel are a factor that complicates its relations with Iran in particular. From a neorealist perspective, each country's efforts to protect its national interests and maintain the balance of power in the region shape the dynamics of these relations. In its relations with Israel, Azerbaijan seeks military, diplomatic and economic support in response to the security challenges it faces, particularly the Armenian conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, these close ties could unsettle Iran and negatively affect relations between Iran and Azerbaijan. Iran may see Azerbaijan's rapprochement with Israel as a threat to its security. Iran's efforts to increase its influence in Azerbaijan may be perceived as a threat to Azerbaijan's national sovereignty and security. This could heighten tensions and increase the risk of conflict in the region. Iran's efforts to increase its influence in Azerbaijan could further complicate relations between Israel and Azerbaijan. The repercussions of Azerbaijan Israel relations on Azerbaijan-Iran relations complicate the geopolitical dynamics in the region. Both countries are driven by efforts to protect their national interests and maintain the balance of power in the region. However, these relations could jeopardize regional stability and increase tensions in the region.
