Abstract (EN)

In recent years, with the development of technology, there has been an increase in the use of GIS-based statistical analyzes in earthquake studies. Within the scope of the thesis; seismotectonics of the Azerbaijan region was investigated and the seismicity was determined by using Geographical Information Systems and spatial statistical methods. Tectonic structure of the region, seismicity and earthquakes occurred in historical periods were analyzed by examining the existing studies. Developing technologies such as Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Statistics are of great importance for the seismicity of the region. For this purpose, according to the data obtained from Azerbaijan State Seismology Service Center, different spatial analysis studies were performed on earthquake points using some statistical techniques. For the realization of these analyzes, ArcGIS program, which is recently one of the most widely used Geographical Information Systems software, has been used. The applied spatial statistical analyses are Spatial Autocorellation (Morans I), Get - Ord General G (High / Low Clustering), Anselin Local Moran's (Cluster and Outlier Analysis), Hot Spot Analysis (Getis-Ord Gi *) and Kernel Density Analysis. In the thesis, spatial clustering of earthquakes with magnitudes equal or greater than 4.50 and tectonic zones are aimed to be correlated.
