Abstract (EN)

This study examines the potential impact of renewable energy sources on sustainable development in Azerbaijan through multidisciplinary approaches. The transformation process in the attitude of the Azerbaijani government regarding energy policy and efforts to transition to clean energy have been analyzed in the context of the economic, social, and environmental issues created by the fossil fuel-based energy system. The project evaluates the country's current potential and capacity in terms of key energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal, as well as completed or ongoing projects, the economic and social dimensions, and the possibilities for international cooperation within the framework of energy diplomacy. Two methodologies (qualitative, including SWOT analysis and spatial analysis, and empirical, using regression, ARDL, and VAR/VECM models) have been used in conjunction. The findings of this research reflect that renewable energy investments serve not only strategic goals related to energy security and economic diversification but also contribute to environmental protection and social welfare.
