Derivational affixes and functions in Azerbaijan Turkish

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the suffixes and functions which create new meanings have been determined by adding them to names and verbs in the Azeri Turkish language. The Descriptive Dictionary of the Azerbaijani Language and the Azerbaijani Turkish Dictionary have been used as reference for samples and the words in the dictionary that indicate the new concept area have been recorded according to the root or base word, and the annexed have been evaluated according to their structure and function. The determined annexes has been compared to Oghuz based Turkic languages such as the common Turkish language, Turkmen Turkish, and Gagauzian Turkish. The method of study was determined by taking into consideration the new annexes and the additional annotations written in Azerbaijani grammar were evaluated in this regard. Simultaneous and comparative methods were used in the study. The determined annexes and their functions have been exemplified with quotations from literary works written in Azerbaijani Turkish. Additionally, these annexes were evaluated numerically according to the words they have been derived from. The functionality of the annexes used in Azerbaijani Turkish were evaluated according to these numerical values. Key Words: Azerbaijani Turkish; construction annexes; Turkmen Turkish.
