Analysis of Azizi Divan

Literary works bear the traces of collective sense and thought of the society, however it is written by an author. Therefore, each literary work reflects its period's social conditions and point of view, besides the author's character and ability. This work depending on the 16th century Divan Literature Poet Azîzî, has been prepared with the motive of this claim. Some works exist in our literature analysing the works of Bâkî, Fuzûlî and Hayâlî Bey who have reached fame in their literary periods. To analyse the works of poets who are less famous like Azîzî "whose name was in the collection of biographies" aims to reveal a literary period. We support the idea to get the richness of simile and metaphor only by this way while the works in the field of criticism are really fewer. In the first part of this work, the life of Azîzî, his character, his point of view in poetry, his fame and his effect in literature have been given; following the analysis of Divan in four main parts as "Religion-Sufism", "Community", "Human" and "Nature". A systemathic analysis has been adopted consisting subtopics under the main topics. To conclude, in this work entitled "The analysis of Azîzî's Divan Literature", the literary appetite and social elements of 16th century have been tried to be revealed.
