Abstract (EN)
Purpose: This research was conducted to examine the relationship between fathers' attitudes towards gender roles and father-infant attachment. Methods: The population of this research, which was conducted with a descriptive and correlational design, consists of fathers who applied to Ordu Training and Research Hospital Pediatric Polyclinic with their babies. The sample of the study consisted of 150 fathers who applied to the polyclinic between 01.06.2022-31.03.2023 and met the inclusion criteria for the study. SAS 9.4 package program was used in the statistical analysis of the data. Data were evaluated using descriptive statistics, independent intergroup t-test, analysis of variance (F test), Pearson correlation analysis and multivariate stepwise regression analysis. Results: The TCRTÖ total score average (135.71±26.74) of the fathers participating in the study was found to be high, and the BBBÖ total score average (65.37±9.95) was above the average. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference between the TCRTÖ and BBBÖ total score average and the fathers' education level, place of residence, profession, income level, social security status, family type, relationship status with spouse/mother, educational status of spouse/mother, occupation of spouse/mother, number of children, whether the pregnancy is planned, participation in pregnancy checks with spouse/mother, satisfaction with the gender of the baby, age range of the baby (months), baby family type, relationship status with spouse/mother, educational status of spouse/mother, occupation of spouse/mother, number of children, whether the pregnancy is planned, participation in pregnancy checks with spouse/mother, satisfaction with the gender of the baby, age range of the baby (months), baby receiving consultancy regarding baby care, participating in baby care, daily time spent with the baby (p <0.05). A statistically significant, positive and strong relationship was found between fathers' BBBÖ total score average and TCRTÖ total score average (r=0.71841, p<0.0001). According to the results of multivariate stepwise regression analysis; The independent variable that has the most partial importance in explaining the variation in the BBBÖ total score is the TCRTÖ total score variable with a partial R² of 51.61%. Conclusion: In the study, it was determined that fathers had egalitarian attitudes towards gender roles and their father-infant attachment levels were above average. It has been determined that as fathers' egalitarian attitudes towards gender roles increase, their levels of father-infant attachment also increase. According to the results, it is recommended to plan nursing interventions to support father-infant attachment and increase fathers' egalitarian attitudes towards gender roles.
