Comparative evaluation of the articles of the law related to animals in the societies of the first age (According to babylonian-hittite and roman law

The position of animals in Babylonian-Hittite and Roman law gives information about the lifestyle, economic structure, religious beliefs and cultural values of the societies of that period. This helps us understand how societies functioned and what animals were like at that time. In this context, research conducted in these legal systems can help us understand how law evolves and changes over time. In particular, the historical development of legal regulations on animal rights and protection shows how they may be reflected in today's animal rights movements and legal systems. The aim of this study was determined to reveal and examine in detail the laws regarding animals in the Ancient Age, and for this purpose, a survey was carried out with the compilation method, one of the qualitative research methods. In particular, ill-treatment of animals is prohibited and certain responsibilities are imposed on the owners of animals. Additionally, the idea that animals could have certain rights in Roman law has been the subject of some debate. As a result of the study, the position of animals in three legal systems was examined, directly supported by legal rules, and the differences between them were observed. It is thought that this study, which is thought to contribute to the literature in terms of comparative history research, may provide ideas for future research. At the end of the study, suggestions for future research were also presented by the researcher. This research on the position of animals shows how law shapes the social order and reflects the values of society, helping to provide an in-depth understanding of the role of law in society. Comparative History research shows how legal regulations regarding the status of animals are associated with ethical values.
