Abstract (EN)
It is known that many different chemical groups used in the construction of plastics are extremely toxic and be a serious threat to the environment. Nowadays, with increasing concern, biosynthetic and biodegradable biopolymers are of great interest due to their properties. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) can be synthesized by many microorganisms as intracellular carbon and energy storage material in nutrient limiting conditions. Since chemically synthesizing of PHAs is quite difficult, microorganisms are used as an important source for the production of this polymer in high purity. Today, new technologies are being exploited to reduce the problems of drug delivery. In physiological conditions, biocompatible and biodegradable polymers are more preferred over non-biodegradable polymers in the development of drug delivery systems. In this study, it is aimed to synthesize, purify the short chain length polyhydroxyalkanoate (Scl-PHA) using Bacillus cereus strain, a gram-positive bacterium, and use this product in the preparation of wound healing systems by formulating it with jellyfish collagen. The physicochemical characterization of the prepared systems has been evaluated and the effects on the HaCaT keratinocyte cell line have been investigated.
