Analays of emotional intelligence levels of Badminton athletes according to some criterion

Abstract (EN)

Badminton can be played both individually and as a team. This research is planned to evaluate the level of emotional intelligence of the badminton sportsmen according to their demographic properties. The research was done by screening method and the sample was made up of badminton sportsmen who have different demographic properties and 107 male and 93 female were chosen from 24 different cities in Turkiye. To determine the demographic properties of the participants, a personal information form was prepared by the researcher. According to this information on the forms, 200 sportsmen were categorized according to their gender, age, sport carriers,weekly exercise hours andsports age. The measurement of the emotional intelligence was made by using the SEIS scale which was created by Shutte and his friends in 1998 and had 33 topics and 4 dimensions. The Scale consists 4 sub-dimensions. These sub-dimensions are, emphatic sensitivity (4,13,14,24,30,33), emotional regulation (1,2,3,6,9,12,16,17, 19,21,22,23,28), the use of emotions (7,8,10,11,20,26,27,31) and emotional awareness (5,15,18,25,29,32). The Cronbach Alpha value of the scale is 0.84-090. To evaluate the data in the research, SPSS 15.0 software was used. To gather the statistical data, frequency and percentage distribution were determined, and Mann-Whitney U test was applied to independent groups and Kruskal Wallis test was applied to multi groups. According to the findings of the research; after the age, gender, sports age, sports career and weekly exercise hours were used as a criterion, there found no significant difference between their emotional intelligence statistically.
