Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to examine the mediating role of Self-Compassion, visual and submissive behavior in the relationship between attachment styles and partner violence. Scales used in Turkey which measure the severity of partner / spouse violence are either two-dimensional or one-dimensional scales. Since these are not sufficient for to get more accurate results the validity and reliability study of Composit Abuse Scale which is a multi-dimensional one is studied. The relationship between the total severity scale scores of Composite Abuse Scale and the Partner Abuse Scale (PAS) are; r = .93; p = .001, the difference between the total scores in the t test being; z = -.738; p = 0.461. In the criterion-related validity study of the Common Abuse Scale, the relationship between PAS and relationship satisfaction was; -.70; on the otherhand the relationship between depression levels was .58 ( p <0.001, p <0.001 respectively). Cronbach's α coefficient of PAS was .91 The results of goodness of fit values, Confirmatory Factor Analysis were; Chi-Square = 1195.14, df = 397, P value = 0.00000, RMSEA = .080, NFI = .91, NNFI = .93, CFI = .94, IFI = .94, AGFI = .77, GFI = .80, RMR = .05, SRMR = .07. The results of the analysis show that PAS is a valid and reliable scale in Turkish society. The relationship between self-compassion and submissive behavior was investigated in relation to attachment styles and partner violence. Structural Equation Modeling and Maximum Likelihood Method was used as an estimation method to test the modeling. According to the results of the study, self-compassion and submissive behavior have a full mediating effect on the relationship between anxious attachment style and partner violence and the relationship between avoidance attachment style and partner violence showed partial mediator effect of self-compassion and submissive behavior. On the other hand, the relationship between attachment styles and submissive behavior showed related to self-compassion and was partially mediating effect related. In addition, Self-Compassion has a partial mediating effect in the relationship between both attachment styles and submissive behavior. As a result, it has been determined that it is necessary to increase violence prevention programs for women, prioritize studies that will increase the importance of attachment styles and reduce submissive behavior that will increaseing Self-Compassion. These findings suggest that Self-Compassion based therapies can be an important treatment target for psychologists and mental health professionals, especially in people with anxious attachment style.
