Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to test as a mediating role of the interpersonal relationship dimensions which are approval dependence, empathy, misting others, and emotional awareness in the relationship between dependent personality traits and being exposed to helicopter parent attitudes in early life and having emotionally available parent in early life. The sample of the study consisted of 202 individuals; 127 females and 75 males, between the ages of 20 and 55, living in different states. Demographic Information Form, Personality Belief Scale Short Form, Helicopter Parent Attitudes Scale, Parental Emotional Avalability Scale, Scale of Dimensions of Interpersonal Relationship Dimensions Scale were used for data collection. The proposed model was tested through the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The findings of the study show that dependency personality traits have a statistically significant relationship with all dimensions of interpersonal relationship except the dimension of the empathy. A statistically positive correlation was found between dependent personality traits and approval dependence and perceived helicopter parent. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant negative correlation between dependent personality traits, trust to others, emotion awareness and parental emotional avalability. There was no statistically significant relationship between dependent personality traits and empathy. As a result, increasing level of helicopter parent attitudes and decreasing level of emotional availability to parent increase the dependency of approval while decreasing misting others and emotional awareness. This relationship are increasing dependent personality traits.
