Abstract (EN)

In this study, the purpose is the production of oil from waste of fishes and to convert it to biodiesel after mixing it with refined oil. The waste fish oil and refined canola oil was mixed to reduce free fatty acid content to produce biodiesel by using base catalyst. Firstly, oil was produced from collected fish wastes then, molecular weight, acidity, density and viscosity of the oil were analyzed. Transesterification reaction carried out with this raw oil using NaOH as catalyst and methanol. In these experiments 0,5%, 0,8%, 1%, 1,2% and 1,5% (w/w) catalyst ratios were used for the transesterification keeping oil:methanol ratio as 1:6. As a result of these attempts is the ideal amount of catalyst was found to be 1% NaOH. Then to improve biodiesel quality and also transesterification, different ratios of raw oil were mixed with refined canola oil. It was observed that with 1% catalyst, 10% of addition of raw oil in refined oil provided biodiesel produced was in the range of standards. But increasing the amount of raw oil in the refined oil after 10%, it caused the biodiesel charecteristics out of biodiesel standards. Therefore, catalyst amount was increased to 1,5% to get good result for higher percent of raw oil. With this percent, it was obtained good results for 20% raw oil mixing.KEY WORDS: Biodiesel, fish waste oil, canola oil, transestrification, base catalyst.
