Abstract (EN)
In the 19th century Ottoman Empire had entered to a decadence phase. It was worn out by the wars and it had lost lands. The most important factor affecting the state in this period is the nationalist movements that spread after the French Revolution. As we know, there were many religious and ethnic elements in the lands of Ottomans, especially in the Balkans. The people in this region being influenced by nationalism movements, entered into a national revival. As a result of the provocation and support of the European states, this national revival turned into revolts and later into a struggle for independence. Another problem rising from the struggles that started due to the interests of the European states and especially with the Russians Panslavism policy in the Balkan lands was the Macedonian Question. The essence of this problem was that, the Macedonian region was wanted to be captured by Bulgaria, Greece and Serbia. The Balkan states demanded rights in the Macedonian Region have entered into a struggle with the support of European states. One of the most important revolts in this struggle was the Ilinden Uprising that took place on 2nd of August 1903. During the uprising there was also an attempt to form a ten day government in Krushevo. Although this revolt was supdued by the Ottoman Army, it managed to attract the attention of the European states and they began to intervent more in to the reforms of the region.
