Abstract (EN)

Various ethnic and religious groups have been living together for centuries in the Balkan geography. One of these groups is the Turks, who are a minority in the geography. Although some of the Turks, who were the continuation of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans, migrated to Turkey, those who stayed here have continued their existence until today. However, this existence was not easy, and they were constantly oppressed and coerced by the majority elements in which they remained in terms of ethnicity, language and religion. Turks are trying to protect their existence by having minority rights in the countries they live in. These minority rights have been guaranteed by important organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union, and the Balkan countries have secured these rights both in their constitutions and in their bilateral agreements. Despite this, identity-based problems of minority Turks continue today. The basis of our study is the current problems of the Balkan Turks and their rights violations.
