Places to visit in Balıkesir

When we examine the historical and cultural heritage of the city of Balıkesir, an important part of it is tombs, tombs, etc. appear to be places to visit. In this study, an inventory of the visiting places in Karesi and Altıeylül districts, which constitute the provincial center of Balıkesir, has been examined. The history, location, stories of these places of visit, which are the cultural heritage of the city of Balıkesir, the beliefs and practices of the people about these spiritual figures, and the phenomenon of visitation have been tried to be examined. The study consists of five parts. In the second part, in the Theoretical Framework section, general information about the historical and geographical location of Balıkesir, the phenomenon of visits and the religious life of Balıkesir are given, and the literature studies related to the research are also mentioned in general. In the third part, information is given about the model, universe, sample, tools and techniques of our research, data collection process, and analysis. In the fourth part, the geographical distribution of the places of visit in and around Balıkesir and their locations, photographs, historical information, miracles and epic stories told in the places of visit, the phenomenon of visitation, were evaluated morphologically and typologically. In the last part, general evaluations and suggestions about the study are given. In the study of examining thirty-eight religious places in Balıkesir city center, firstly, a literature review was made. Then, by going to the field, the data we obtained through on-site observation and interview techniques were written with an objective attitude and tried to be interpreted sociologically. One of the main purposes in choosing the subject of our study is to contribute to the cultural heritage of this city and to bring an academic study to the city of Balıkesir. Although deficiencies are likely in the study, the current practice and dynamics of the visiting phenomenon have been evaluated with an objective attitude.
