Abstract (EN)
Balikesir was a Turkish homeland during the Seljuks' time, tracing back to ancient times and many civilizations. It is an ancient city in the National Struggle that was among the first to oppose the enemy, and was a major supporter of the National Struggle, with the delegation meeting in the Alaca Masjit forming the so-called "Balikesir Kuva-yi National". The city was built on the western edge of the plain on the slope of a flat-backed hill. The city's first development site is at the intersection of the plain and hill. The main reason the city was established in this place was the willingness of old cities to sit on solid ground and produce a protected habitat, as observed in the choice of locations. In this thesis study; In the area to the west of the city center, formed by the neighboring Dumlupınar, Karaoğlan, Aygören, Karesi, Hacı İsmail and Mirza Bey neighborhoods, which are the first settlements of Balıkesir city; Among the remnants of the lost structural heritage, registered and unregistered structures located in Kazım Özalp and Ulus streets in Dumlupınar neighborhood, which is one of the limited areas reflecting the traditional housing texture of Balıkesir city center, where civil architecture has a decisive place in the identity of the texture in clustered form, has been examined. Sustainable proposal-healthcare projects have been put in place to improve and protect historical and cultural heritage through certain principles, with existing conditions documented and interventions based on traditional residential texture and authentic identities of all structures facing the streets of Kazim Ozalp and Nation. The 12 proprietary structures on these streets have been thoroughly examined and prepared for the restoration of roles and proposals.
