INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF MACHINING PARAMETERS ON SURFACE QUALITY IN BAMBOO Emrah Aykaç Advanced Technologies, Master's Thesis, 2018 Thesis supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sait Dündar SOFUOĞLU ABSTRACT The aim of the study is to determine the optimum processing conditions by examining the effect of the processing parameters of the bamboo (Bambusa) material which enter upon a new business activities in our country on the surface quality. In accordance with this purpose, the samples prepared from bamboo material in compliance with TS 2470 standard, is machined using CNC machine with cutting blades which is produced from four different kinds of HSS materials supplied from different companies, belongs to 8 mm diameter perforched end mill group. On the obtained surfaces, surface roughness measurements were pursued pursuant to ISO 4287. According to the data obtained, similar results were acquired in the measurement of surface roughness on the machined surfaces, Ra and Rz roughness measurement values; as the depth of cut is being increased, the roughness values increased. It has been observed that an increase in the roughness value between 8000 rpm and 10000 rpm, that decrease in roughness value between 10000 rpm and 14000 rpm, and an increase in roughness from 14000 rpm to 16000 rpm. It has been obtained that the feed of cutfingfool is being increased, an increase in the roughness value. It has been determined that the number of blades in the cutter type increased, the roughness value decreased, The lowest roughness value was obtained at a depth of 2 mm machining at a speed of 14000 rpm, a feed rate of 1000 mm / min, and a cutter type of 3 mm (4 edged Z = 4 groups spiral end-mill cutter) Keywords: Bamboo (Bambusa),Machining Parameters, Surface Roughness, Surface Quality
