Abstract (EN)
The thesis titled "Financial Performance Measurement in the Banking Sector: Evidence from Turkish and Azerbaijani Banking Sectors" aims to evaluate the financial health and efficiency of banks operating in Azerbaijan. The study will begin with an introduction outlining the importance of assessing financial performance in the banking sector and its importance for both stakeholders and regulatory bodies. The methodology section describes the research design, data collection methods, and analytical tools used to evaluate various financial performance indicators. The main part of the thesis will focus on a comprehensive examination of key financial performance indicators such as profitability, liquidity, solvency, efficiency and asset quality. These indicators evaluate how effectively banks manage their resources, their capacity to generate profits and their strategies for managing risks. The analysis to be conducted includes comparing the performances of different banks in Turkey and Azerbaijan for a certain period, identifying trends in this period and in-depth research of the factors affecting performance changes.. Additionally, the effects of the findings obtained in the thesis on the banking sector, regulatory authorities, policy makers and other stakeholders can be discussed. Based on the research results, it is also possible to provide strategic recommendations to improve financial performance, strengthen regulatory frameworks and promote stability in the banking sector. The thesis aims to contribute to a better understanding of the financial dynamics of the banking sector of Azerbaijan and Turkey in general and to provide information that can guide decision-making processes aimed at promoting stability, efficiency and growth in the sector.
