Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, one of the most recent works of Barbara Frischmuth (1941-), a distinguished representative of Austrian literature, "Dein Schatten tanzt in der Küche" will be analyzed. Barbara Frischmuth's literary career is characterized by a rich collection of works, especially novels, stories, poems and essays. Her work revolves around a number of universal themes such as human relationships, identity, belonging, gender issues and the power of language. Many of her works emphasize the importance of language and explore the interaction of different languages and cultures. She is also known for her feminist approach and her interest in women's rights. As a woman writer herself, she has written about women's experiences and women's identity, as well as important thoughts and works on gender equality and women's social roles. Barbara Frischmuth has won many literary prizes for her literary achievements and is recognized as one of the leading women writers not only in Austria and Germany but also worldwide. Her works have been translated into many languages around the world, including Turkish, and have achieved great international success. Barbara Frischmuth, who also studied at Erzurum Atatürk University for a period, is of particular importance as a writer who knows our country, our language, our traditions and customs closely and contributes to the establishment of intercultural relations in a positive sense with her works. The work selected as the research subject of this thesis was published in 2021. There are a total of five stories in the work, which is a book of short stories. In all of the stories, the main figures are female characters trying to survive alone in the post-modern world and the events are shaped around them. For this reason, the research topic of this thesis is the problematic of the emancipation of female characters, the main figures of the stories in Barbara Frischmuth's book "Dein Schatten tanzt in der Küche". Since the stories of the female characters in these stories, which are the literary products of the postmodern period, have characteristics specific to the age in which they live, the works will be examined from the perspective of postmodern literature and the problematic of the emancipation of female characters will be analyzed in the light of postfeminist literary criticism.
