A research on the streetscape desing in Bartın city

Kanlıırmak Street selected as the main subject of the thesis stretches for about 1400 m along the Bartın River where the public may access the river side and it is a street with important public green areas as well as traditional Bartın houses that carry the traditional urban texture. These houses are also important with their traditional architecture and gardens. The green area between the Bartın River and the Kanlıırmak Street is 1st Degree Natural Protection Site status. In this thesis, (i) determination of natural and cultural landscape characteristics of Kanlıırmak Street, (ii) spatial analysis of the area, (iii) expert opinion assessment for evaluation of urban design quality criteria, (iv) the problems, opportunities and suggestions for the design proposal of Kanlıırmak Street landscape related to zoning and zones (v) "Kanlıırmak Street Landscape Design Proposal" were developed. As a result, it is emphasized that the planning and design of Kanlıırmak Street based on pedestrian and traffic safety is effective on the traditional development of street landscape. In order to improve the quality of urban life, Kanlıırmak Street Landscape Design Project has been developed to enhance the functional, aesthetic, ecological and economic aspects of street landscape.
