Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the neurophysiological effects of fatigue during free throws in basketball players and to examine the effect of anaerobic fatigue on pre-shot focusing, by detecting the changes in alpha peak frequencies, which was measured on the scalp, in the brain. The secondary aim is to reveal how alpha frequency changes in neural patterns will change at different resting times. In the study, the data were obtained by the Electroencephalography device, and the data recorded with the 32-channel EEGCap were processed in 19 channels. Fatigue was created with the Wingate Anaerobic Power Bike. Fatigue was calculated with the Karvonen formula and defined by the BORG Scale. 9 healthy right-handed basketball players without neurological disorders participated in the study. The data recorded with the EEG A.S.A Lab Program were processed in the EEGLab2021.0 toolbox in the Matlab R2020b package program. The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS Statistic 25.0 package program. The analyzes to be made were determined by looking at the normality distribution of the data. The differences between the variables were determined using the Paired Sample T-Test, one of the Parametric tests, if the data were normally distributed, and the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test if the data were not normally distributed. The Friedman test was used to compare multiple data. According to the research findings, there is a significant difference in the alpha frequency peak that occurs in the brain before and after anaerobic fatigue. There are also statistical significances between the first measurement after anaerobic fatigue and the measurement at different resting times. In this study, it was concluded that anaerobic fatigue and rest periods affect the alpha frequency of the brain before the free throw.
