Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to develop a virtual reality application for beginner music education and to evaluate the application through the perspectives of academics and music teachers. In the research, the design and development research method was employed with the aim of designing an innovative environment. In line with this method, expert opinions were first gathered to identify design needs. Following this, the design process commenced. The study group consisted of experts and music teachers. Data from the participants were collected using both unstructured and structured interview forms. Within the scope of this thesis, qualitative data analysis techniques were used. Following the needs analysis, the researcher decided to develop a virtual reality application that includes the teaching of the musical staff, treble clef, notation system, and the notes fa, sol, and la. In line with the study's methodology, the virtual reality application was developed by following the steps of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Based on the results obtained, a student-centered and intuitive virtual reality application was developed. A review of the literature revealed that no prior studies had been conducted in our country within the scope of virtual reality technology and music education, making this the first virtual reality application designed for educational purposes in our country. In this context, it is anticipated that this thesis will contribute to future research in the field.
