Abstract (EN)

Turkey went through a very rapid change and transformation process in 1920's and 1930's. Modernisationrealised in political and economic field had its reflections in social life too. Coming out of inward oriented structure and becoming a modern society process of the Turkish society accelerated. Material social change dynamics were observed in daily life, culture, arts, health services, economic and social development and work life. This comprehensive social change phenomenon continued during 1935-1939 period just before WW II. It is possible to see vast number of examples in Turkish society and the pres regarding the change in social life of this period. While Turkey was going through a rapid modernisation process during this period, a process of integration with the external world had also accelerated. During the years following 1935, very important political crises broke out in Europe and in some other parts of the world. A desperate anticipation of the approaching of a general great war emerged in world public opinion. Although it was not directly in the centre of these international crises, Turkey followed developments closely. Some foreign policy problems that involved Turkey were also solved during this period under the shadow of these international crises.
