Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the obesity awareness levels of physical education and sports teachers and variables such as gender, marital status, number of days of sports per week, level of education, age, body mass index, type of school, length of service variable, and time spent in front of the screen per day. The sample group of the study consisted of 244 physical education and sports teachers working in high schools and secondary schools in Batman province. In our study, the Obesity Awareness Scale (OBS), which was developed by Allen and adapted to Turkish and Turkish culture by Kafkas and Özen and whose validity and reliability studies were conducted, was applied. SPSS program was used for statistical analysis of the data obtained at the end of the study. In the analysis of the data; it was presented as arithmetic mean and standard deviation. Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was applied for normality test; Levene test was applied for homogeneity test. Skewness and kurtosis values were checked for data sets that did not show normal distribution and data sets with a value of ±2 were accepted to show normal distribution. Independent samples t-test was applied for pairwise comparisons between groups, and one way analysis of variance (One way ANOVA) was applied for more than two comparisons. Tukey correction test was used to determine which variable the difference was in. Pearson correlation was applied to determine the correlation between the subdimensions of the scale. Statistical results were evaluated at p<0.05 significance levels. No statistically significant difference was found in the total score data of gender, marital status, number of days done sports per week, level of education, age, BMI, type of school worked, length of service variables, the time spent in front of the screen per day and the number of children (p>0.05). According to the results of the Tukey correction test, in the Nutrition subdimension, there was a difference in favor of the participants with three or more children among those with three children and those with two children; in the variable of time spent in front of the screen per day, and in the physical activity subdimension, there was a difference between those who spent 4 hours and those who spent 2 hours and 1 hour in front of the screen in favor of those who spent 4 hours; According to the total score obtained from the scale, a statistically significant difference was found between those who spend 4 hours a day in front of the screen and those who spend 3 and 2 hours in favor of those who spend 4 hours, and between those who do sports 4 days a week and those who do sports 3 days a week in favor of those who do sports 3 days a week (p>0.05). As a result, there are statistically significant differences in the sub-dimensions of obesity awareness levels of physical education and sports teachers.
