Increased industrialization and the effects of urbanization in the world and also in Turkey has interfered with people's lifestyles change. In the changing world, people's relations with nature, personal needs and social relations have also changed drastically over time. Concrete cities, changing and modernizing lifestyles, especially the busy pace of work has narrowed the living space of people. The stressful lifestyle of the people affects the psychological, sociological and physical development negatively. This negativity led to the need for new changes and regeneration in individuals and directed individuals to new searches. People who want to get away from the stressful living conditions of the cities that have become concrete and have to swim for a while, have increased the demand for environments where they can relax, have fun, be alone with the nature and get fresh air and this demand is increasing day by day. This situation leads to an increase and diversification of recreational activities. In this study, recreation facilities and recreation areas in particular medium-sized city in terms of population and districts of the city of Batman in Turkey are examined. After determining the recreation areas that constitute the basis of the research, these sites were visited in the year. Natural environment and recreation areas were observed, examined on site, photographed and deficiencies were determined. In order to determine the possibilities and problems of these areas, a survey was conducted for those who participated in recreational activities and for the local people. SPSS 22 package program was used to analyze the data and descriptive statistical techniques were used in the analysis. As a result of the study, the number of recreation areas in Batman city and its districts was high but it was observed to be less in terms of usability. For this reason, the local people are looking more towards the areas with lack of reinforcement reinforcement and this leads to intensive use of these areas. As a result of this vicious cycle, unused areas are less maintenance-free.
