Perception of Batmanian people towars Syrian refugees

Migration events, which can be optional (economic concerns) or compulsory (political pressures, wars), pose various risks for both immigrants and the receiving regions. Although migration is expressed as the search for a solution to a problem, it can form the basis of another problem. As a matter of fact, the waves of rebellion, which started in 2011 and called the Arab Spring, caused a large-scale and long-term chaos and instability in the process. This war has also been the biggest trigger for many people to leave the place where they were born and raised, and it created the beginning of a large population migration movement that was necessary. The country most affected by these wars in the Middle East is Turkey, which is both a border neighborhood and a transit point. Currently, approximately 3.6 million asylum seekers have entered the country with an open door policy and have been included in the social life in the country, not staying in temporary accommodation centers. The inability to control such a large migration movement, the inclusion of immigrants in the existing socio-cultural structures without going through the adaptation processes, created various problems in the regions receiving immigration and caused negative perceptions in the society. In this context, the research was conducted to determine the level of political, socio-cultural, economic and security perceptions of the people of Batman towards Syrian refugees. In the research, a questionnaire was applied and 500 people with different demographic information were reached in different neighborhoods. As a result of the research; It has been reached that the refugees are not compatible with the existing social structure, their cultural differences can cause serious problems, the main reason for unemployment and the increase in rent prices is asylum seekers, they prevent economic competition, they trigger new risks in terms of security and the political mechanisms should take more strict steps in solving existing problems and these data are included in detail in the study. given.
