Comparative determination of the earthquake risk of educational structures on the scale of Bayburt with some quick assessment methods

Abstract (EN)

The number of existing structures at risk of earthquakes is increasing day by day in our country. Before the loss of life and property occurred in the structures, the problem of how to perform performance analyses more quickly and economically has occurred. So much so that the current structure performance analysis is quite costly and time-consuming. Rapid detection methods are used to reduce the number of risky structures available, minimize the loss of life and property. By using these methods, it is more advantageous from a time and material point of view that they are examined in detail with the detection of risky buildings. Within the scope of this thesis study, 15 educational buildings available in Bayburt province were evaluated within the scope of FEMA 154 Method, Canadian Seismic Screening Method and P25 Method. In terms of ease of application, the selected methods have been transferred to the Excel program within the necessary information and forms. As a result of the evaluation, the FEMA154 Method and the Canadian Seismic Screening Method resulted in the same direction, while the P25 Method resulted in a high risk band. Taking into account the results, it was suggested that the FEMA154 Method and the Canadian Seismic Screening Method should be used to reduce the risky building stock and that the P25 Method should be used as a priority when evaluating. The methods selected in the study were determined by considering the ease of application, methods that can be saved in terms of time, methods that are suitable for the selected structures and whose accuracy is considered reliable.
