Abstract (EN)
Bayrampaşa is significant area of investigation because of being located in center of the busiest highways of modern Istanbul and surrounded by densely populated districts; hosting the one and only water source 'Lycus' that once flowed into the capital of East-Roman Empire. Historical records confirm that there were watercourses and water-wells in the region along with farmsteads constructed by the people from ruling class of Ottoman Empire due to it's favorable climate conditions and arable lands. While 'natural features' of the area represent starting point of the anthropic and spatial evolution of the area; district itself owe it's current status to population movements, endustrial and service sectors. Migrant movements from Balkan states in late 19th century underlie Bayrampaşa' s anthropic and spatial structure during early 'republic period'; internal migration from rural areas through to the urban places positively contributed in it's development progress after 1950's. Political, economical and socio-cultural events; population census results, historical records, printed media sources will make possible to examine development progress in mention that Bayrampaşa went through between 1927 - 2019. As being one of 39 disctricts which create one of the most important cities in human history, it's intented to draw attenion on Bayrampaşa' s place and importance in the organization of city of İstanbul.
