Abstract (EN)

Cancer is among the leading causes of death worldwide. In 2018, 18,1 million cases were diagnosed and 9,5 million cancer-related deaths were observed in the world. The numbers are expected to increase to 29,5 million new diagnoses and 16,4 million cancer-related deaths by 2040. Altered metabolism is the hallmark of cancer. Due to the many undesirable side effects of chemotherapy drugs used today such as severe kidney problems, allergic reactions, decreased immunity against infections, gastrointestinal disorders and bleeding, the search continues for alternative drugs that are non-toxic to healthy cells and have very mild side effects. Thiazole is the most common heterocyclic compound in heterocyclic chemistry and drug design. The presence of several reaction zones in the thiazole ring expands the fields of application and leads to new solutions for the challenges in synthetic and medicinal chemistry. The molecular architecture of 1,3-thiazoles makes them suitable components for drug development. It has been reported to exhibit many different biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti-diabetic, antiviral and antioxidant. In this thesis study, we aimed to investigate the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects and gene expressions of 2-hydrazinothiazole derivative compounds synthesized for the first time on A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cells in vitro, so that treatment can be possible without damaging healthy cells or with minimal damage.
