Abstract (EN)
Cancer, is a disease, healthy cells with the genetic information by changing various factors as a result of the loss of control of cell division caused by uncontrolled proliferation. In addition to the methods such as surgery and radiotherapy, another effective way that preferred for the treatment of cancer is the use of chemotherapeutic agents. Also kemotherapeutic agents for to develop agents, are still continuing, because of the incidence of cancer, progressive increase and in mortality rates. Benzimidazole and benzothiazole ring systems, are the basis of chemical structure important many drugs than because of different pharmacological activity. It's known that some drugs being used in cancer chemotherapy carry these ring systems. There are lots of studies in literature aimed to synthesis and investigation of anticancer activities of mainly benzimidazole and benzothiazole containing compounds. In this study, due to potential anticancer effects of benzimidazole and benzothiazole ring systems, 8 new compounds that contain both of these ring systems on the same chemical structure were synthesized. The structures of obtained compounds were confirmed by the spectroscopic data of infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectroscopy (MS), and Elementel analysis results. Cytotoxic effects of the synthesized compounds were tested on A549 (ATCC CCL-185) non-small lung cancer cell line, Caco-2 (ATCC HTB-37) colon cancer cell line and NIH3T3 (ATCC CRL-1658) mouse embryo fibroblast cell line. Compounds 3c and 3e were determined as the most effective compounds that showed comparable activity with reference drug Cisplatin. Key Words: cancer, cytotoxicity, benzimidazole, benzothiazol
