ABSTRACT Master Thesis THE EFFECTS OF ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID (ASA) ON ROOTING ON CUTTINGS OF SOME AMYGDALUS L. (A. orientalis, A. trichmaygdalus and A. lycioides) SPECIES Gülçin BEKER İnönü University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Biology 93+ xii pages 2003 Supervisor: Yrd. Dr Emel Yİ?İT In this study the relationship among root formation, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoid, total chlorophyll and total carbohydrate on shoot cuttings of A. trichamygdalus, A. orientalis and A. lycioides has been investigated. For the experiment, the cuttings were prepared in the months November, December, January and February. One year old shoots that were grown on the young trees were picked up for preparing cuttings. The researches were carried out in the plant growth chamber. The temperatures were adjusted for day and night period 22±2 °C and 18±2 °C respectively. The cuttings were planted in perlite. In this study also it was observed some effects of 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm concentrations of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) in the plants, A. trichamygdalus, A. orientalis and A. lycioides when applied to their their cuttings. In all species callus formation rates were determined. Also in this study it was observed some effects of 50 and 100 ppm concentrations of IAA+ASA in the plants, A. trichamygdalus, A. orientalis and A. lycioides when applied to their their cuttings. In all species callus formation rates, chlorophyll a (Cla), chlorophyll b (Clb), carotenoid, total chlorophyll and total carbohydrate were determined. mIn the results of study, it was determined that there was the best callus formation rate in both 50 ppm ASA and 50 ppm IAA+ASA concentrations. When applied to 50 ppm ASA+IAA on cuttings, it was seen about % 10 rooting. Carbohydrate analysis was done according to Rossenberg. There was no correlation found out between callus formation and carbohydrate. Pigmentation analysis was determined according to the methods of De Kok and Graham.
