Abstract (EN)

In the present study that was conducted between the period October 2006 ? September 2007, fish species of whiting (Merlangius merlangus euxinus Nordmann, 1840), turbot (Psetta maxima Linnaeus, 1758), twaite shad (Alosa pontica Eichwald, 1838) and picarel (Maena smaris Linnaeus, 1758) collected at the Middle Black Sea coasts of Sinop Peninsula were investigated for endoparasites.Fish were transported to Sinop Fisheries Faculty Laboratory using transport bags following their capture and landing and then started to investigate. Fish length, weight and their sex were determined before parasitological examination. Body cavity, gills, mouth and internal organs of fish were investigated for parasites. Stomach and intestines were excised by a forcep and then examined using stereo microscope.At the end of the investigation, Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802) belonging to the genus Hysterothylacium, Phylum Nemathelminthes; Bothriocephalus scorpii (Müller, 1776) belonging to the genus Bothriocephalus, Phylum Platyhelminthes and Livoneca punctata (Uljanin, 1872) belonging to the genus Livoneca, Phylum Arthropoda were identified.Key words: whiting, turbot, twaite shad, picarel, metazoan parasites
