Synthesis and characterization of the proton transfer salts of some dicarboxylic acids and their metal complexes

In this study, three different types of proton tansfer salts have been synthesized. Two of them, (H2Etppz)(pyzdc) and (Hamp)(Hpyzdc), have been obtained from the reaction of 1,4-pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (H2pyzdc) with 2-(piperazine-1-yl)ethanol (H2Etppz) and 2-amino-3-picoline (amp), respectively. The third proton transfer salt, (Hampy)(tga), has been prepared from the reaction of thioglycolic acid (Htga) and 2-amino-3-picoline (amp). The structures of proton transfer salts have been characterized by using 1H and 13C-NMR, FT-IR, Uv-Vis spectra and elemental analysis techniques ın addition, four transition metal complexes [Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)] of the proton transfer salt, (H2Etppz)(pyzdc), have been synthesized by using the corresponding metal(II) acetates, and the Cu(II) complexes of the proton transfer compounds, (Hamp)(Hpyzdc) and (Hampy)(tga), have also been synthesized. On the other hand, the compound {(H2Meppz)[Mn(pyzdc)2].8H2O}n has been obtained by the one pot reaction of the corresponding mangan(II) acetate, 1,4-pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid and N-methyl piperazine (ppz) without preparing the proton transfer salt. The synthesized complexes were characterized by elemental, FT-IR, Uv-Vis, ICP-OES and magnetic measurements techniques. In addition, single crystal X-ray diffraction method has also been applied to the complex {(H2Meppz)[Mn(pyzdc)2].8H2O}n.
