Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the genotoxic effects of ascorbic acid, benzoic acid, citric acid and sorbic acid has been searched in vitro with CBMN technique in human peripheral blood lymphocyte. Peripheral blood samples have been obtained from two-healthy, non-smoking individuals. Lymmphocyte cultures have been treated in 24 and 48 hours period with 1000, 500, 250 and 100 ?g/ml material doses of ascorbic acid, benzoic acid, citric acid and sorbic acid. Nuclear proliferation and nuclear bridge formations, micronucleus which were caused by test materials in lymphocyte cells of which preparation was made, have been analyzed and CPI values have been calculated.According to the results that have been obtained from CBMN, doses of 1000 benzoic acid and citric acid and 1000 and 500 doses of sorbic acid are of toxic effect. In other doses of ascorbic acid, benzoic acid, citric acid and sorbic acid have been abserved no toxic and genotoxic effect. There has been a reduction in CPI values of all test materials compared to the negative control. Also, it has been reached to inference that nuclear proliferation and nucleoplasmic bridge formation values are close to the negative control and test materials which have been applied, didn?t cause these formations.Keywords: Ascorbic acid, Benzoic acid, Citric acid, Sorbic acid, Genotoxicity, CBMN
