The effects of naphthalene acetic acid and banzy adenine treatments on flower qualities in some gerbera (Gerbera sp.) varieties

Abstract (EN)

Gerbera is an important plant used as a cut flower in our country. This plant, which has made an important economic contribution to the cut flower sector, is also grown in Tokat/Erbaa district and has started to take its place in the sector rapidly. This study was carried out in a grower's greenhouse in Tokat/Erbaa in 2019. Four BA (0, 200, 400 and 600 ppm) and four NAA doses (0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm) were applied to two different cultivars. Plant growth regulators were applied to the plants by foliar spraying method. The effects of these applications on flower stem length, flower diameter, flower stem thickness, flower age weight, yield and vase life were investigated. The applications were first applied 1 month after the seedling planting and then 3 times at 15 days intervals for a total of 4 times. As the results of the experiment, the vase life varied between 7.5 and 12.9 days depending on the harvest time, variety and plant growth regulators, but no significant difference was observed due to the variety and plant growth regulators. The highest total yield was obtained from 400 BA treatment with 33.3 flowers in Ulaş, and from 200 BA in Transvaal variety with 41.4 flower. Mean stem length varied between 49.8 and 59.9 cm in Ulaş variety and between 61.1 and 66.2 cm in Transvaal variety. While growth regulators did not cause a significant change in stem length of Transvaal cultivar, it was determined that there were significant differences between some doses in Ulaş cultivar.
