The views of the primary school 8th grade mathematics teachers on the use of skill-based questions

In this study, it is aimed to examine the opinions of primary school eight grade mathematics teachers on the use of skill based questions. Accordingly, the views of mathematic teachers regarding the use of skill based questions, learning programs' achievements, the content materials, the educational status and assessment and evaluation methods were taken. The interview form was transmitted to teachers electronically and have been asked to fill out the interview form in this electronic environment. In the analysis of the obtained data, content analysis technique was used from qualitative research methods. At the end of the study, it was observed that teachers deem compatible skill-based questions with the achievements of the mathematic course teaching program. It has been observed that the majority of teachers also find that skillbased questions in LGS(2020) are compatible with the achievements of the mathematic course teaching program. When the teachers' views on the compatibility of content materials with skill-based questions were examined, it was observed that the teachers did not find compatible the textbook and the course content in EBA with the skill-based questions. It was seen that there were not enough skill-based questions in textbooks and EBA, there were questions about lower-level thinking skills in textbooks and EBA mostly, andhave been found to be inadequate for Skill-based Questions, so it was seen that the majority of teachers needed and used other printed/digital resources in their courses. When the views of the teachers were examined, it was seen that they tried to gain high-level thinking skills by including Skill-Based Questions in their own activities. But in the assessment and evaluation activities of teachers (written, oral, performance, project etc.) it was seen that they do not use skill-based questions, but rather used questions aimed at lower-level thinking skills and measuring achievements. According to the views of teachers, it was seen that the source they encountered most with skill-based questions was auxiliary/other resources, while the source they encountered least was textbooks. In addition, it was concluded that there are not enough skill-based questions in textbooks, and therefore teachers do not have a balanced distribution of skill-based questions in textbooks. Teachers have found balanced the distribution of skill-based questions in LGS(2020) to the subjects in the eighth grade mathematic course teaching program.
