Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the teaching process carried out within the framework of Flow Theory with the personalized system of instruction applied in 7th grade physical education and sports lessons from the students' point of views. The research was designed as a convergent parallel design, one of the mixed research methods. Participants of the study are 7th grade students at a secondary school under the Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of National Education in the spring semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. The Flow Short Scale developed by Rheinberg, Vollmeyer and Engeser (2003) and adapted into Turkish by İşigüzel and Çam (2014) was used as a quantitative data collection tool in the study. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis the usability of this scale was revealed in scientific studies to be conducted with secondary school students. Semi-structured interviews, focus group interview, researcher diary and field notes were used as qualitative data collection tools. When the qualitative and quantitative data obtained from the research were evaluated together, it was concluded that the students had a flow experience during the semester in the physical education and sports lessons taught with personalized system for instruction.
