Preservice physical education teachers' Online blog reflections on teaching practice and school experience

Material and Method: Case study design was used as a research design. During the 2018-2019 season, 15 preservice teachers, who took teaching practice and school experience lessons and one consultant instructor were participated in the study. For a total of 12 weeks, preservice teachers were asked to share their experiences and observations via an online blog (wordpress). Structured interviews were conducted with 6 prospective teachers who had the most blog entries. Field observation notes and document analysis (web logs) were also collected. Data triangulation was provided since more than one data source were used. Thematic content analysis was performed with NVIVO 12 program. Results: Thematic content analysis revealed four main themes. These; Teaching Skills, Communication, Internship School Environment, Technology Literacy are defined as sub-themes in these main themes. In this study, the lack of field knowledge of the supervisor teacher, the workload of the supervisor instructor and the prospective teacher were high and the problems arising from the practice school came to the fore. However, the inclusion of a digital tool, such as a blog, has improved stakeholder communication. Technology literacy of prospective teachers is an important element in this process. Conclusions and Recommendations: As a result of the research; It is concluded that usung blogs has an important contribution in the communication between the advisor and the preservice teachers. It is thought that online blogs can offer opportunities to form a pre-service professional development group. Keywords: Teaching Practice course, School experience lesson, Weblog
