Abstract (EN)
This study is aimed to determine the need of in-service training for physical education teachers, to determine the attitudes, perceptions, expectations and suggestions towards in-service training programs, and to suggest forming an in-service training program course based on these features. In quantitative research part of the study, in total 162 physical education teachers consisted of 77 females and 85 males were participated. In order to measure the collected data, scale of attitude towards in-service training activities, scale of teachers' attitudes and expectations towards in-service training, and survey of teachers' self evaluations on in-service training were used. In the study, a statistically significant difference was found between teachers' views on in-service training programs according to their age (F= 3.393; p< .05), professional seniority (x2= 10,973; p< .05); their level of expectations on in-service training activities (U= 2521,0; p< .05) and teachers' style of participating in the in-service training programs (U= 2625,0; p<.05). In qualitative research part of the study, 17 physical education teachers (5 females, 12 males), and 3 domain expert academicians (2 females, 1 male) were participated. Data was collected by using the technique of semi-structured interviews. The study identified the concept of in-service training, knowledge about the occupation of teaching, the domain expertness knowledge, participants' general knowledge, and the views and the needs of in-service training program for the physical education teachers. As the results of the study, a suggestion was formed about in-service training program and main elements of this suggestion were found to be different based on some variables.
