Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to investigate psychological well-being and physical self-esteem as predictors of physical education teachers' perceptions of success. 333 university students, 193 of whom are in Ankara and 140 in Antalya constitute this research sample is a descriptive quality. During the research, the Psychological Well-Being Scale developed by Ryff (1989) and the Physical Self-Esteem Scale developed by Confelonieri were used as data collection tools. The Psychological Well-Being Scale consists of 6 subscales and 42 items. For each subscale of the Psychological Well-Being Scale, the internal consistency and reliability coefficients were found as follows: autonomy .86, environmental mastery .90, personal growth .87, positive relations with others .91, purpose in life .90, and self-acceptance .93. Similarly, the Physical Self-Esteem Scale consists of 3 dimensions and 12 items. In the reliability and internal consistency studies of the scale, the internal consistency of the appearance subscale was determined as .73, the internal consistency of the weight subscale was .76, and the consistency of the attribution subscale was .64. Data analysis was performed with SPSS 24.0 developed by IBM in order to achieve the objectives determined throughout the research. In the study, the scale scores were calculated and the kurtosis and skewness coefficients were examined to determine the conformity of the scores to the normal distribution. The t-test and ANOVA test were used to analyze the variation of the scale score according to demographic characteristics. While the t test was used in the analysis of demographic variables with 2 groups, the ANOVA test was used in the analysis of variables with k (k>2) groups. According to the results of the analysis used in the research, it is concluded that there is a very strong positive relationship between physical self-esteem and autonomy, environmental dominance, personal development, positive relations with others, life purpose, and self-acceptance. When we examine the effect of physical self-esteem on psychological well-being, it has been determined that physical self-esteem affects psychological well-being positively. It was determined that physical self-esteem and its sub-dimensions and psychological well-being and sub-dimensions did not show a statistically significant difference in terms of the city where the universities attended by the students.
