FILIZ, Volkan. "Evaluation of Preservice Physical Education and Sports Teachers' Beliefs About Their Profession: Sample of Gaziantep University" (Master), Çorum, 2022. The aim of this study is to investigate the beliefs of the pre-service teachers who are studying at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Sports Sciences towards the profession of physical education and sports teacher. Ethics required to conduct to the study is granted by the Ethics Committee of Hitit University Non-invasive Research Ethics Committee. Consent forms were signed by the students who took part in this study voluntarily. SPSS 22.0 Software was used in order to analyse the statistical data. The study adopted correlation model which is one of the descriptive research methods. Data were collected via demographic information form and 'Physical Education and Sports Teachers' Beliefs about the Physical Education Profession Scale' which was developed by Fan, Keating, Liu, Zhou, Shangguan and Knipe (2018) and adopted to Turkish by Doğru, Kamuk and Yılmaz (2019) in order to assess the pre-service Physical Education and Sports Teachers beliefs about their profession. The scale is on the form of seven point likert scale. The scale consists of two dimensions which are "Sense of Calling" (6 items) and the "Value of Physical Education and Sports"(6 items) and 12 items in total. 143 (64 female and 79 males) pre-service teachers who were studying at Gaziantep University Faculty of Sports Sciences, Physical Education and Sports between the years of 2021 and 2022 education year participated in this research. In conclusion, there is no significant difference in the preservice Physical Education and Sports teachers' beliefs regarding their profession in terms of gender, class, academic success, residency, average family income, parents' education level, parents' job status, being a certified sports player and the sports branch that they are practising. Investigation of the Physical Education and Sports Teachers' beliefs implies what kind of teacher they will be when the preservice teachers practice their profession. Hence, it is crucial to investigate the beliefs of the Physical Education and Sports teachers regarding their profession.
