Attitudes and qualifications of physical education and sports teachers against distance education

Our country has recently applied to distance education services due to various reasons (pandemic, natural disasters). Since physical education and sports lessons are also applied within the scope of distance education and it is an application-based lesson, it is thought to be at the beginning of the lessons that are most affected by this process. The purpose of this research is to examine the attitudes and competencies of physical education and sports teachers towards distance education. The research is a quantitative study in descriptive model. 312 physical education and sports teachers, 101 women and 211 men, working in the province of Antalya participated in the research on a voluntary basis. The research is a quantitative study in descriptive model. 312 physical education and sports teachers, 101 women and 211 men, working in the province of Antalya, participated in the study on a voluntary basis via Google form. A personal information form was used to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants. The Distance Education Attitude Scale for Teachers developed by Deniz (2021) and the Physical Education Teachers' Distance Education Competencies Scale developed by Sağın, Yücekaya and Güllü (2021). The attitudes and competencies of physical education and sports teachers towards distance education were examined. The results of the scales were analyzed with spss 22 package program. Since the data showed normal distribution, parametric tests were applied. As a result, significant differences were found in the attitudes of physical education and sports teachers towards distance education in variables such as gender, years of professional experience, place of work and technology competence level. Statistically significant differences were found in the distance education competencies of physical education and sports teachers according to the variables of gender, years of professional experience, task level and technology competency level. Looking at the relationship between attitude and competence, a low-level significant difference was found.
